Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Laika mobile app and related services (“Service”), operated by Off Leash Behavior LLC, a California limited liability company (“we,” “us,” “our”). By creating an account or using Laika, you agree to these Terms.


1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Laika. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian’s permission. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.


2. Your Account

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.

  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.

  • You may not share your account or allow others to access it, except through the household sharing feature.

  • Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.


3. Your Pet’s Data

  • You own your data. All pet profiles, medical records, photos, chat history, and other content you create or upload remains yours.

  • You grant us a limited license to process, store, and display your data solely to provide the Service.

  • We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your information.

  • You can delete your data at any time in the app’s settings, or request a copy of it by emailing [email protected].


4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.

  • Upload content that is fraudulent, misleading, defamatory, or infringes on any third party’s rights.

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, other users’ accounts, or data.

  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service.

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.

  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service without our written permission.

  • Attempt to manipulate, bypass, or exploit the AI assistant through prompt injection or similar techniques.

  • Upload content that contains malware, viruses, or other harmful code.


5. AI Assistant Disclaimer

Laika is not a veterinary service.
The AI assistant provides general pet care information, helps organize your records, and offers wellness insights. It does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or provide veterinary medical advice.

  • Always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical decisions about your pet.

  • In an emergency, call your veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital immediately. Laika’s emergency features help you locate nearby clinics but are not a substitute for professional veterinary care.

  • AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. Verify important information with your veterinarian.

  • Laika does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content, including health insights, medication information, travel requirements, or insurance comparisons.


6. Subscriptions and Payments

  • New accounts get 30 days of Laika free. After the free trial, continued access to Laika requires a paid subscription. Features and pricing are described within the app.

  • Paid subscriptions are purchased and billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.

  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

  • You can cancel your subscription at any time through your app store settings or within the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

  • We reserve the right to change subscription prices with 30 days’ notice. Price changes do not affect your current billing period.

  • Refunds are handled according to the policies of your app store or payment provider.


7. Shared Links and Public Content

  • When you generate a shareable link (veterinary packet, emergency card, lost dog page, collar tag QR code), anyone with that link can view the shared information.

  • You are responsible for who you share links with. We cannot control access once a link is shared.

  • You can revoke any shared link at any time through the app.

  • Shared content may include your pet’s name, photo, medical summary, vaccination status, and contact information you choose to include.

  • Lost and found dog reports are reviewed by our team, usually within 24 hours. We may remove any report or shared content that is inaccurate, abusive, or violates these Terms.


8. Affiliate Links and Third-Party Services

  • Laika may recommend insurance plans, DNA kits, products, or services from third-party providers. We may earn affiliate commissions from these recommendations.

  • Recommendations are generated based on your pet’s profile and are not influenced by commission rates.

  • We are not responsible for the products, services, pricing, or policies of third-party providers.

  • Your interactions with third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.


9. Service Availability

  • We strive to keep Laika available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

  • We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, updates, or security reasons.

  • We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by Service downtime.

  • Features may be added, modified, or removed at our discretion. We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes.


10. Intellectual Property

  • The Laika name, logo, design, and software are owned by Off Leash Behavior LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

  • You may not use our branding, trademarks, or visual identity without written permission.

  • Content you create within Laika (pet profiles, records, photos) remains your intellectual property.


11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

  • We do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

  • Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

  • We are not responsible for veterinary decisions made based on information provided by the AI assistant.


12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Off Leash Behavior LLC, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party’s rights.


13. Account Termination

  • By you: You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the app. Account deletion permanently removes all your data within 30 days.

  • By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law. We will provide notice when reasonably possible.

  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive (limitation of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution) will remain in effect.


14. Dispute Resolution

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.

  • Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation.

  • If negotiation fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in California.

  • You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis and waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

  • Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in court for intellectual property violations or data breaches.


15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date and, for significant changes, via in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with any changes, you may delete your account.
